Andrew S. Chumney, a Partner with Peacock Keller since 2011, focuses his practice on the representation of coal, oil, and natural gas producers and other energy related businesses.
After joining Peacock Keller in 2003, Mr. Chumney rotated among various sections within the firm gaining experience in all facets of the law ranging from litigation to employment law to estates and trusts. He now utilizes that experience by representing some of the county’s largest energy producers in a broad array of energy and real estate related matters, including without limitation, mineral title issues, land and mineral acquisitions and leasing, lease negotiations, asset sales and transactions, and permitting and regulatory issues associated with coalbed methane and natural gas wells.

Donald B. Formoso, a partner at Peacock Keller, was recently elected to Washington County Habitat for Humanity's Board of Directors. Formoso will serve on the Board of Directors for a three-year term, concluding in 2020.
About Habitat for Humanity:
Using Volunteer workers and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds simple, decent, affordable houses for partner families. Homes are sold to partner families with a no-profit, zero percent mortgages. Homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat houses. PARTNER means that the qualifying family agrees to work with Habitat by completing 350 – 500 hours of sweat equity in the building of their Habitat home as well as attending budgeting and credit counseling workshops.

Peacock Keller welcomes two new associates Janine E. Smith and Aaron W. Smith. Ms. Smith joined the Firm’s Litigation Department and will focus her practice on civil litigation. Mr. Smith joined the Firm’s Energy Department and will focus his practice on energy and real estate matters.
Janine graduated, cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Political Science. She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and graduated in 2007. During law school, Janine interned with the City of Pittsburgh Law Department and was also employed as a law clerk for a small legal practice.
Prior to joining Peacock Keller, Janine was employed as an Allegheny County Assistant District Attorney, where she handled the prosecution of hundreds of matters, including jury and non-jury trials and appellate matters. Janine then worked as an Associate attorney for a Pittsburgh law firm, where her practice focused on civil litigation and the representation of indigent criminal defendants.
She is admitted to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, as well as the United States District Court for the Western District Court of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, as well as the Allegheny and Washington County Bar Associations.
Aaron attended West Virginia University where he graduated in 2002 and 2004 with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, respectively. While pursuing his Masters degree, Aaron was awarded and successfully completed a National Science Foundation Teaching Fellowship. After graduation, Aaron worked as a civil engineer for a large transportation engineering firm performing bridge design, construction and inspection.
Aaron graduated cum laude from the Duquesne University School of Law in 2010. During law school, Aaron completed an externship with the Hon. Kevin Sasinoski of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Following graduation, Aaron worked as a law clerk for the Hon. Janet Moschetta Bell of the Washington County Court of Common Pleas.
Prior to joining Peacock Keller, Aaron was employed as the Appalachian Regional Manager for a national land services company providing land related services to the energy companies developing the Marcellus and Utica shale formations.
Mr. Smith is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Washington County Bar Associations as well as the Michael Late Benedum Chapter of the American Association of Professional Landmen. Aaron also serves on the Peters Township Planning Commission.
On Monday, August 1, 2016, Susan Mondik Key joined Scott Fergus and Harlan Shober to present “Your Property Reassessment: What Does it Mean?”. Peters Township Public Library sponsored the event which garnered a crowd of over 500 people looking for answers to their questions about the ongoing Washington County reassessment process.

The reassessment process and status, explained.
The formal appeal process defined containing relevant timeframes.
Examples of how the reassessment affected sample properties.
